Spring 2012 Registration Now Open
by posted 12/01/2011

Registration for NELL's Spring 2012 season is now open!

Registration for new and returning players is now open.  Click on the "Register Online" button to the left to begin the registration process.  All registrations must be made online.

As introduced last year, instead of the previous AA and AAA divisions we will have the following divisions in 2012 for players in grades 3-6 who are not eligible to play in the Majors or who have not been drafted by a Majors team:
  • College Division: This division is a developmental league and coaches are expected to emphasize having fun while teaching players fundamental baseball skills. Players pitch, scores and standings are kept, bunting is allowed, and limited base stealing is permitted.  Games should be competitive, but coaches should utilize game situations to teach correct situational play and decision-making.  Players will play a variety of positions.
  • Cooperstown Division: This division is a more advanced league for players who have demonstrated a greater proficiency of baseball fundamentals.  There is a continual emphasis on building and developing further baseball skills in a more competitive environment.  Players pitch, scores and standings are kept, and base stealing (to third base) and bunts are permitted.
  • Note: Little League age 12 players may play in the minors by waiver only.
Players will be assigned to a Minors division by the league commissioners based upon previous coach evaluations and player tryouts.  Players who wish to play in the Cooperstown Division must attend the tryout.  The purpose of having these two divisions is so players are placed at the appropriate level based upon their skills and experience to ensure skill development and enjoyment of the game.

Details regarding the tryout schedule for Majors and Minors will be posted later to the website and our newsletter.

Per Little League rules, only players Little League Age 10-12 are permitted to play in the Majors division.  If your child would like to try out for the Majors then they should be registered for that division.  Players drafted by a Majors team must play in the Majors; players not selected in the draft will be assigned to a Minors (Cooperstown or College) team by the commissioners.   To verify your player's age eligibility go to the Little League Age Calculator.

If you have any questions or comments, please use the feedback button on the left to send them to the league.
